Coast Watchers is an organizion initiated by the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit 8 to assist the Canadian Coast Guard and other emergency services that seek to preserve life on Lac Saint-Louis.
Coast Watch participants keep a close eye on the waterfront near their homes. They are coached in when and how to report any situations in which a lake users may be in difficulty. Participants are also alerted to and, if needed, may participate as observers in ongoing search and rescue operations bordering the shoreline of their home.
Coast Watch seeks voluntary participation from residents in locations with a clear view of Lac Saint-Louis. Participants in the initiative will complete a one-hour online coaching program to understand their role in this important public service.
